Variability and Spectral Characteristics of Three Flaring Gamma-Ray Quasars Observed by VERITAS and Fermi-LAT

چکیده

Flat spectrum radio quasars (FSRQs) are the most luminous blazars at GeV energies, but only rarely emit detectable fluxes of TeV gamma rays, typically during bright flares. We explore gamma-ray variability and spectral characteristics three FSRQs that have been observed energies by Fermi-LAT VERITAS, making use almost 100 hours VERITAS observations spread over 10 years: 3C 279, PKS 1222+216, Ton 599. explain flux distributions sources in terms a model derived from stochastic differential equation describing fluctuations magnetic field accretion disk, estimate timescales accumulation instabilities their disks. identify distinct flares using procedure based on Bayesian blocks analyze daily sub-daily energy spectra. Fermi-LAT Gamma-Ray Variability Study of Misaligned AGN

We review the gamma-ray variability properties of AGN with a jet not directly pointing at the observer, i.e. Misaligned AGN. This class is mainly populated by nearby low power radio galaxies (i.e. FRIs). The high power radio sources (i.e. FRIIs) are indeed rare in the GeV sky. Our Fermi-LAT inspection of 4 years of data reveals different temporal behaviors, supporting the idea that beaming/jet ...

Fermi-LAT Observations of Gamma-Ray Bursts

The Large Area Telescope (LAT) on the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope observatory is a pair conversion telescope sensitive to gamma-rays over more than four energy decades, between 20 MeV and more than 300 GeV. Acting in synergy with the Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) the other instrument onboard the mission the LAT features unprecedented sensitivity for the study of gammaray bursts (GRBs) in te...

Fermi-LAT observations of the gamma-ray burst GRB 130427A.

The observations of the exceptionally bright gamma-ray burst (GRB) 130427A by the Large Area Telescope aboard the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope provide constraints on the nature of these unique astrophysical sources. GRB 130427A had the largest fluence, highest-energy photon (95 GeV), longest γ-ray duration (20 hours), and one of the largest isotropic energy releases ever observed from a GRB....

Flux and Photon Spectral Index Distributions of Fermi-LAT Blazars and Contribution to the Extragalactic Gamma-Ray Background

We present a determination of the distributions of the photon spectral index and gamma-ray flux—the so-called log N–log S relation—for the 352 blazars detected with a greater than approximately 7σ detection threshold and located above ±20◦ Galactic latitude by the Large Area Telescope of the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope in its first year catalog. Because the flux detection threshold depends ...

Radio-optical-gamma-ray properties of MOJAVE AGN detected by Fermi/LAT

Aims. We use a sample of 83 core-dominated active galactic nuclei (AGN) selected from the MOJAVE (Monitoring of Jets in AGN with VLBA Experiments) radio-flux-limited sample and detected with the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) to study the relations between non-simultaneous radio, optical, and γ-ray measurements. Methods. We perform a multi-band statistical analysis to investigate the relation...
